Below is a quick reference list of organisations that you might find helpful if you need support or are struggling with a particular relationship or emotional issue. The list is by no means exhaustive and I will add to it over time. Emergency counselling helplines
SAMARITANS – provides confidential emotional support 24/7 to those experiencing despair, distress or suicidal feelings. Call: 08457 909090

Relationship, engagement and marriage courses and information
THE MARRIAGE COURSE – an eight session course to help improve and strengthen any marriage or long term cohabiting relationship. There is no group work. It is often run by churches or Christian groups but it accessible to anyone with or without a faith.

Parenting, grandparenting and family advice and support
CARE FOR THE FAMILY – a national charity which aims to promote strong family life and to help those hurting because of family breakdown or bereavement.
GINGERBREAD – a lone parent family organisation run by lone parents for lone parents. www.gingerbread.org.uk
PARENTLINE PLUS – offers free 24/7 parents’ helpline, providing parenting advice and parental guidance, on a wide range of parenting issues.
GRANDPARENTS ASSOCIATION – helping to support grandparents.

KIDS IN THE MIDDLE – supporting children experiencing conflict in their families.
AGE UK – provides information and support for the elderly.
CRUSE BEREAVEMENT CARE – national charity set up to offer free, confidential help to bereaved people.
